Tim Byrd Soars Back Onto The Airwaves On The True Oldies Channel

VCMG Live, owners of the True Oldies Channel 95.9 FM in the Palm Beaches and 106.9 FM on the Treasure Coast, is proud to announce the return of veteran radio personality Tim Byrd “The Byrdman” to its new morning show, “Byrdman’s Get Up and Go Show.”

Byrd started in radio at the age of 15 and most recently spent 13 years in local radio in South Florida “flying high” on 97.9 FM WRMF, 104.3 FM WEAT and 105.5 FM WOLL. Known as an influencer with his popular podcast and web site Palm Beach Live Work Play and social media following, Byrd has been promoting the best things to do in Palm Beach County. He has been a long-time emcee and charity host for many years throughout South Florida, and his recent partnership with Palm Beach Illustrated magazine has catapulted his visibility.

The True Oldies Channel came on air in October 2017 playing the best oldies of the 1960s and 1970s with John Tesh and Scott Shannon.

The new morning drive show will air 6 to 9 a.m. “Byrdman’s Get Up and Go Show” will feature listener call-ins, live song requests, artist interviews, ticket giveaways, traffic, weather and the greatest hits of all time.

Byrd will also feature celebrities and special guests.

“The Byrdman” will host a morning radio show beginning Monday on Palm Beach Gardens-based True Oldies Channel 95.9 FM.

Longtime radio personality Tim Byrd will return to the airwaves Monday with a new morning show on True Oldies Channel 95.9 FM.

A 13-year veteran of South Florida radio who has hosted shows locally on WRMF-FM, WEAT-FM and KOOL 105.5-FM, Byrd will broadcast “Byrdman’s Get Up and Go Show!” Monday through Friday from 6 to 9 a.m.

The show, which marks Byrd’s return to radio after a decade-long absence, will feature listener call-ins, live song requests, artist interviews, ticket giveaways, traffic, weather, and the “greatest hits of all time,” according to Palm Beach Gardens-based VCMG Live, which owns True Oldies Channel 95.9 FM in the Palm Beaches and 106.9 FM on the Treasure Coast.

Christmas Wrappings: New Formats Follow All-Holiday Programming.

As the wrapping paper is recycled and Christmas music fades from the air, a number of new stations appear just in time for the New Year.

While a month or so of holiday music usually serves as a palette cleanser for the introduction of a new music format, iHeartMedia launched its third all-podcast station on what was soft AC “95.9 Lite FM” WLTM Erie. As earlier reported by Inside Radio, WLTM joins WSAN Allentown-Bethlehem (1470) and KABQ Albuquerque (1350) with 24-7 programming from the iHeartPodcast Network.

West Palm Beach ran with “Rudolph Radio” on Vic Canales Media Group WSVU (960) until Christmas night when classic rock “The Surf” made a splash in the market. In Billings, Desert Mountain Broadcasting exits Santa Claus Lane to debut oldies “98.1 K-Bear” KYYA (730), jettisoning its previous news/talk programming. As expected, Adams Media Group soft AC “103.9 Sunny FM” WWFW Ft. Wayne came out of Christmas programming as a new adult hits outlet, with the on-air moniker of “103.9 Wayne FM.” iHeartMedia launches soft AC “107.7 The Breeze” WXXF Loudonville, OH. WXXF was simulcasting classic rock WFXN-FM Galion, OH prior to going all-Christmas in November. Sunrise Broadcasting debuts a new soft AC, “Wave 100.5” WAVL in the Wausau-Stevens Point market.

While not related to a post-Christmas music format flip, Radio One adjusted WPHI-FM Philadelphia from classic Hip-Hop “Boom 103.9” to urban contemporary “Hip Hop 103.9.”
